Union trooper Jimmy Perdue was thrown
from his horse and forced to fight on foot during a cavalry engagement.
He shot the charging Capt. David Hauser, commendar of the Confederate 2nd Division
Cavalry,
pulled him from his horse and rode away before Confederates caught him.
Perdue, from Bedford County, Va., and Hauser from Roanoke, Va., have performed
the scenario many times to the delight of spectators.
