N.J. Civil War Library To Host Rod Gragg Nov.

WOODBRIDGE, N.J - The first Dr. James I. Robertson Jr. Prize
for Confederate History will be awarded to Rod Gragg for Covered
with Glory: The 26th North Carolina Infantry At The Battle of
Gettysburg during The Civil War Library and Research Center's
third annual dinner on Nov. 10.
As part of the evening's program which begins at 6 p.m. at the
Cameo Restaurant in Woodbridge, the library's volunteers of
the year will be recognized through the presentation of the
"Spirit of '61" award for outstanding service. Additionally,
Gragg will be keynote speaker for the dinner. There will be
numerous door prizes and a print by artist Paul R. Martin III
entitled "Sons of Virginia" will be raffled. The public
is invited. The cost is $30.
The Robertson Prize is given annually to the author of the best
original work of published scholarship in the field of Confederate
history - military, political or social. It is named for Dr.
James I. Robertson Jr., Alumni Distinguished Professor in History
at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. The
author of the winning entry also receives $1,000 in recognition.
To be considered for the 2002 Robertson Prize, publishers are
asked to send three finished copies (no galleys) of their work
with contact details to the Civil War Library and Research Center,
Robertson Prize Committee, 94 Green St., Room 104, Woodbridge,
NJ 07095. Reprints of earlier works are not eligible, but edited
collections of previously unpublished source material are. Publishers
are welcome to submit more than one work for consideration.
The Library will accept submissions for books published in 2001
until March 31, 2002.
Founded in November 1997, the Civil War Library and Research
Center is a one-of-a-kind facility that is funded by corporate,
foundation and individual donations and staffed entirely by
volunteers. It is open to the public and features more than
2,000 bound volumes and hundreds of periodicals related to the
American Civil War.
