N.J. Civil War Library To Host Rod Gragg Nov. 10

WOODBRIDGE, N.J - The first Dr. James I. Robertson Jr. Prize for Confederate History will be awarded to Rod Gragg for Covered with Glory: The 26th North Carolina Infantry At The Battle of Gettysburg during The Civil War Library and Research Center's third annual dinner on Nov. 10.

As part of the evening's program which begins at 6 p.m. at the Cameo Restaurant in Woodbridge, the library's volunteers of the year will be recognized through the presentation of the "Spirit of '61" award for outstanding service. Additionally, Gragg will be keynote speaker for the dinner. There will be numerous door prizes and a print by artist Paul R. Martin III entitled "Sons of Virginia" will be raffled. The public is invited. The cost is $30.

The Robertson Prize is given annually to the author of the best original work of published scholarship in the field of Confederate history - military, political or social. It is named for Dr. James I. Robertson Jr., Alumni Distinguished Professor in History at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. The author of the winning entry also receives $1,000 in recognition.

To be considered for the 2002 Robertson Prize, publishers are asked to send three finished copies (no galleys) of their work with contact details to the Civil War Library and Research Center, Robertson Prize Committee, 94 Green St., Room 104, Woodbridge, NJ 07095. Reprints of earlier works are not eligible, but edited collections of previously unpublished source material are. Publishers are welcome to submit more than one work for consideration.
