Ledger Stolen By N.Y. Soldier Is Returned To Virginia

STAFFORD COURTHOUSE, Va. – The stolen item was returned, but not by the man who took it.

 

Preservation Groups Pool Funds To Buy 13 Acres At Shepherdstown Battle
SHARPSBURG, Md. — Save Historic Antietam Foundation (SHAF) and several organizations recently purchased a portion of the historic Shepherdstown Ford battlefield —  the Boteler Cement Mill property, which is adjacent to the Potomac River ford where Union and Confederate forces fought on Sept. 19 and 20, 1862. 

 

Agreement Reached On Restoration Of Hill At Brandy Station

BRANDY STATION, Va. — A memorandum of agreement (MOA) removes an illegally-dug pond, restores the land and conserves 3.1 acres on private property on Fleetwood Hill at the Brandy Station Battlefield in Culpeper County.

 

Virginia Trust Conserves Property With Fitts Fund
MIDDLEBURG, Va. — The Land Trust of Virginia (LTV) recorded its 20th easement in Fauquier County with an easement on a 109-acre parcel southeast of The Plains, within the viewshed of Virginia scenic byways Routes 55 and 628 and I-66.

 

Chancellorsville Battle App Available
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Civil War Trust’s newest entry in its Battle App series is a free, multimedia and GPS-enabled smartphone tour of the May 1-4, 1863, Chancellorsville Battlefield.
